He knew I would follow Him. The out-of-place stones and the notches in the trees were like breadcrumbs He had left along the pathway to assure me I was headed in the right direction. The search for His hidden treasures started on this road , but all I’ve found are more turns, twists, inclines and valleys. I wondered if I would ever find His place.
With faith in His promise, I knew I’d find Him if I sought Him with all my heart. I vowed to search until I reached His secret place. No quitting.
Tired and weary, I stopped and looked around for more clues. Maybe there’s a secret path I haven’t found yet. Maybe a turn I missed. Maybe…maybe I don’t know what I’m doing here. For a moment, I doubted. Tears welled up in my eyes.
“Where are you?” I called, not really expecting an answer.
“I’m here,” a voice sounded from above.
Startled, I jumped to my feet and looked around. It was Jesus. I knew His voice, and it was Him.
“I don’t see you. Where are you?”
“You can’t see me with your eyes, but you can see me in your heart.” He paused. “Close your eyes. Forget everything else around you and focus on me alone. You’ll see Me in your spirit. I am Spirit.”
I stood silent and motionless in the darkness.
A sweet fragrance filled the air. Warmth enveloped me like a blanket, and joy filled my soul. I felt the presence of another with me. It’s Him. I trusted the closeness of His presence and felt secure. Loved. Incredible peace.
“I’m here.” He whispered.
Light. Brilliant light shone over my face. My spirit danced within me. I opened the eyes of my heart and could see Jesus.
The Secret Place – God’s Hidden Treasure
It’s real. God connections are real. I’ve been there with Him in the secret place and found God’s hidden treasure.
Words fail me when I try to describe the presence of God in my life. Even the greatest love on earth between a man and a woman pales in comparison to the intimate fellowship I have with God.
As often as I can, I run into the secret place. Some days I linger longer than others. While there, Jesus feeds my spirit with the bread of life (John 6:35). He teaches me and gives me wisdom to understand the events of my physical world. He sometimes tells me the spiritual warfare going on ‘behind the scenes’ of the natural realm.
The treasures of God are not meant to remain hidden. I’ve gotten a glimpse of some of them, and so can you.
Even though we can’t see Him in human form like others saw Him when He visited the earth many years past, connecting with God is real. We can still meet with Him and spend time in His presence.
You may have heard about Him – His name is Jesus, and people the whole world over have celebrated His birth on Christmas Day.
Jesus came for a very specific purpose—to make a way for us to connect with God. After His mission was accomplished, Jesus returned to Heaven . But, He didn’t leave us empty -handed. He left us with these wonderful gifts:
1) A choice of whether or not to believe in Him as the Son of God and Savior of mankind. He doesn’t force us to believe Him. He gifted us the freedom to choose.
2) He promised to send His Spirit to live in those who believe in Him, because He wants to be with us all the time.
3) He left a road map so we could find Him – the Bible. He will help us understand the great mystery of His love if we ask.
These gifts are for you and for me. No exclusions.
Anyone can know the presence of God by choosing to believe in Jesus. If you admit you need Him and want Him more than anything else in this world, He will meet you where you are. Being in the presence of God is refreshing, uplifting, humbling, revealing, and fearfully awesome.

I encourage you to find the road map Jesus left behind, study it, and begin your journey in search of God’s hidden treasures. As you read His written words, ask Jesus to open the eyes of your heart to understand the pathway to the greatest gift of all—fellowship with God.
Send forth your light and your truth. Let them guide me. Let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. Psalm 43:3
