What a magnificent physical being God designed for us. The body is part of the trilogy masterpiece. The mind is the intellectual phenomena so complex researchers are yet to discover all it can do. The spirit is the immaterial part of us, and we connect with God in our spirit. We cannot separate any one of these three because each is necessary for life.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
Our bodies are so remarkable in surviving the dangers of the environment, it’s easy to take our bodies for granted. When we ignore our bodies by the things we put into it, eventually, we will pay the consequences. Of course, we also live in a fallen, sinful world, and disease and sickness may come with no fault of our own. No matter how healthy or unhealthy you are today, whatever goes on with the body will, without a doubt, effect the mind and the spirit.
Healthy is Non-negotiable
When our body aches, is full of pain, or sick, our mind becomes occupied with recovery, and our spirit is burdened within by the imbalance of synergy. Doing the simplest of tasks becomes overwhelming. Designed to heal itself, the body uses energy to regenerate cells and borrows from the fuel supply supporting the the mind and spirit. In other words, you feel pretty bad while you’re getting well.
Health is big business in America, and we spend billions of dollars every year of trying to be healthier. But, something is not working, because obesity is rampant, preventable diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure are accepted as age-related and food additions have a hook in most of us.
Poor health effects everything–our relationships, our occupation, our self-image. Deep down inside, we all want to live uninhibited by physical infirmities which keep us from making the most of every day. All of us want to walk spend time with our loved ones, play with the children, and enjoy fullness of our brief life on earth. A huge part of being able to do this is by guarding our health and caring for our bodies.
